Your guide to determining leadership and cultural fit.

It’s easy to be swayed during the interview process.
You’re stepping into a tightly controlled experience; everyone’s putting forward a polished version of themselves, including you.
When considering a new role, it’s easy to focus on the job title, salary, or scope of responsibility. But what’s often harder to discern—and even more critical—is whether the environment will support your integrity, growth, and well-being.
This checklist is designed to help you be more perceptive. Use it while interviewing, weighing an offer, or having early conversations with a manager or team. It’s not just about the job; it’s about the culture you’re stepping into.
Workplace Alignment Checklist
Clarity for identifying environments that support your values.
1. Do They Take Responsibility and Admit Mistakes?
When you ask about past challenges, do they speak honestly?
Do leaders take accountability for failures?
2. Do They Invite Honest Questions and Welcome Feedback?
Do your questions receive open, thoughtful answers or rehearsed talking points?
Is curiosity encouraged, or do they seem annoyed by questions?
3. Do They Respect Individual Autonomy and Boundaries?
Are expectations for time, communication, and availability clearly stated?
Do they respect personal time, family commitments, and health needs?
4. Is the Culture and Communication Transparent?
Are company values reflected in everyday behavior?
Is compensation, workload, and opportunity clearly communicated?
5. Is a Culture of Inclusion Promoted?
Do they support diverse voices and experiences in practice?
Is there any sign of favoritism, cliques, or “inner circles”?
6. Are Leaders Accountable to Others?
Is there a board, HR, or peer feedback system with real authority?
Are decisions made with fairness and transparency?
7. Do You Feel Respected in Interactions?
Are you being genuinely listened to or just pitched to?
Do you feel energized or drained after engaging with them?
Final Note
You don’t need a perfect workplace.
But you do deserve a workplace that respects you.
Let this checklist be a guide, not just to where you’ll work, but whether you’ll thrive there.
Let’s talk. If you’re navigating change and want to lead with more clarity, confidence, and connection, I’d love to support your next step.
